Project Aim
Recent developments in this area have given Genealogists an extra tool to investigate family branch relationships.
Y-Chromosome extraction can allow uncharted family branches to be connected. One example is of the two tests carried out above show. Both these test results confirm a high probability that both Wrightson branches are descended from the Norse Vikings and that both have a Common Paternal Ancestor.
The aim of this research is to add more "meat to the bones" and determine a common origin of ancestry and link differing branches of the Wrightson family.
Method
To collect DNA from one or more Wrightson male members of different branches. A kit is ordered, which contains all the necessary information and a swab for obtaining the DNA by simply wiping the swap internally on a cheek. For those who wish absolute privacy this can be assured. Individual results can then be compared to our existing database and that of the Laboratory for a match.
Donations
A simple 12 marker Y-Chromosome test costs $99 and is the standard for Genealogy Comparisons. As an individual providing the hosting, collection of data etc for this site I personally cannot fund the collection and testing of DNA. I therefore ask that contributions are made to assist in future DNA testing of our name or that an individual order a Kit for themselves and supply me with the results for comparison.
So please help!!
With particular thanks to Rick Wrightson who offered to pay in full my DNA test and to my two Sisters Chris & Helen who both offered a contribution. There is hope in people, I had begun to despair
As Rick often quotes
Solitude is impracticable, and society fatal.
